What Happens If a Dental Implant Becomes Infected?
In this video, Dr. Ruedi Tillmann explains the signs, causes, and treatment options for infected dental implants. Patients from Ogden, Greater Salt Lake City, and the surrounding areas can visit our Kaysville office to arrange a free consultation and address their concerns.
If we place eight implants in your upper or lower jaw to support a roundhouse, bridge, or prosthesis, and one implant fails, it does not mean you’ll lose the functionality of your restoration.
The advantage of having multiple implants is redundancy—if one implant becomes compromised due to infection or other issues, we can remove and treat that specific implant while maintaining the stability of the overall restoration. During this process, you’ll still be able to wear your prosthesis and carry on with your daily activities without interruption.
Once the area heals, we can replace the failed implant if needed, ensuring your restoration remains secure and fully functional. This flexibility is one of the key benefits of implant-supported restorations, providing both reliability and convenience.
