What Should I Do If I Chip a Tooth?

In this video, Dr. Ruedi Tillmann explains the steps to take if you chip a tooth and the treatment options available. Patients in Ogden and Greater Salt Lake City can schedule a free consultation at our Kaysville office for expert care.

If you come in with a chipped tooth, our first step is to assess its overall health and determine the best course of action. Depending on the severity of the damage, we may:

Restore the Tooth: For minor chips, we can use a composite restoration to rebuild the tooth and restore its normal function and appearance.

Place a Crown: If the damage is more significant, a crown may be necessary to protect the tooth and restore its strength.

Perform a Root Canal: In cases where the break extends deep enough to affect the tooth’s pulp, a root canal may be required to remove the damaged tissue and prevent infection.

The good news is that all these treatments can often be completed in a single visit, allowing you to quickly return to your daily activities with a fully restored tooth. Our goal is to make the process as seamless and efficient as possible while ensuring the long-term health and functionality of your tooth.
