Shifting while speaking. Falling out while eating. Sore spots on your gums. These are just a few of the downfalls of traditional dentures. Such frustrations make daily life difficult and negatively affect your oral health. But what if there was a way to make denture stabilization possible? With all the advancements in modern dentistry, you don’t need to ponder what-ifs. At the Utah Denture and Implant Center, Dr. Ruedi Tillmann can stabilize your dentures with dental implants.
What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are a high-quality, long-lasting tooth replacement option. They offer more than just a functional restoration—they enhance your overall oral health and quality of life. These implants act as artificial tooth roots, securely supporting a dental crown, bridge, or full set of dentures.
Made of titanium, dental implants are known for their strength and durability. Most notably, dental implants can fuse with the jawbone in a process called osseointegration. This fusion creates a natural and stable foundation for your dentures. It offers a far more secure and comfortable fit than traditional options. Whether you’re missing a single tooth or require full arch replacement, dental implants provide an effective, lasting solution. And, dental implants can significantly improve your smile and restore confidence.
How Does Denture Stabilization Work?
The key benefit of denture stabilization is that it eliminates the uncomfortable shifting or loosening of dentures that many patients experience. By placing mini dental implants in your jawbone, Dr. Tillmann can create a secure, anchored base for your dentures. These implants function similarly to natural tooth roots, keeping your dentures in place and allowing you to eat, speak, and smile without worry.
Traditional dentures rest on the gums, and we may need to realign or adjust them over time. However, implant-supported dentures offer a permanent, stable foundation that requires minimal maintenance. This not only makes your dentures more comfortable but also helps to preserve your oral health by preventing bone loss in the jaw, which is often a concern with traditional dentures.
If you already have a set of dentures, Dr. Tillmann can convert them to implant dentures. However, if your dentures aren’t in good condition, we may have to explore other options.
Denture Stabilization Options
Although mini dental implants are small, they’re packed with power. If you’re looking for a new set of teeth supported by mini dental implants, we offer several options to suit your lifestyle.
Snap-on Dentures:
For a removable, at-home option, snap-on dentures might be right for you. Dr. Tillmann can support an entire row of teeth in the upper or lower arch using four to eight mini dental implants. This solution eliminates the bulky upper palate found in traditional dentures and doesn’t require sticky, messy adhesives—thanks to the stability provided by the implants.
Fix-on-Six®:
If you’re looking for something more stable but still semi-removable, consider the Fix-on-Six® system—also known as a semi-removable roundhouse bridge. Dr. Tillmann places six to ten mini dental implants to anchor the bridge securely in your jawbone. You can eat confidently and enjoy your favorite foods, and the bridge can only be removed by Dr. Tillmann during your cleaning appointments.
Fixed Roundhouse Bridge:
For a fully fixed option, Dr. Tillmann can permanently cement a roundhouse bridge to 10 to 12 mini dental implants. This option offers maximum stability and feels the most like natural teeth. There’s no need to remove it—you simply care for it like your natural smile.
